LEGEND OF LAFFIT PINCAY, JR. w/BONUS FOOTAGE (Retirement, etc..)

From the start the Panamanian PINCAY proved he had the talent to make it in North America. After starting on the East coast circuit PINCAY moved West in 1970 and for the next five years, he lead all riders in purse earnings - winning three Eclipse awards as the nation's most outstanding jockey. By now it was not unusual to see him dominate a day at the races, but most impressive about him was his unusual strength which had been known to pull together a tiring horse and save a victory. PINCAY had been so impressive that in 1975, the 28-year-old was inducted into Racing's Hall of Fame.
See racing footage of some of PINCAY's most famous mounts: DESERT VIXEN in the 1974 Beldame; the unbeatable team of AFFIRMED and PINCAY winning their first five races together, shown is their 1979 Woodward and the 1979, "race of the year", that would ultimately decide Horse-of-the-Year honors in the Jockey Club Gold Cup against SPECTACULAR BID; 1982 Belmont on CONQUISTADOR CIELO; 1983 Belmont with CAVEAT; 1984 Derby and Belmont with the ill-fated SWALE; and SPEND A BUCK's 1984 Jersey Derby. Watch as LAFFIT PINCAY writes his way into the history books with his masterful riding!
AS AN ADDED BONUS...several mini clips and segments are shown after the main feature reflecting back on LAFFIT's extraordinary 39-year career when he announces his official retirement from the saddle which leads into LAFFIT's retirement ceremony which is shown at Hollywood Park right after the running of the Swaps Stakes on July 13, 2003. Several past and present Hall of Fame jockeys, trainers and owners saluted the modest and dignified little man from Panama whose inspirational feats are sure to stand for years to come!
