LEGEND OF ANGEL CORDERO w/BONUS FOOTAGE

CORDERO agrees he may ride very hard but in any sport to be the best you must be aggressive, dedicated, and disciplined in your profession. He doesn't consider the track his job but his life; he has endured personal sacrifices to be the best. All jockeys want to win but ANGEL is motivated by a passion greater than the others and seemed to want the taste of victory just a little more. Success came slow and gradual up until the early 1970's when he received the recognition and opportunities he had striven to attain.
See film footage of his 1974 Derby victory with CANNONADE, 1976 Derby and Belmont win with BOLD FORBES, rare footage on SEATTLE SLEW in 1978, and his controversial ride on CODEX against GENUINE RISK in the 1980 Preakness.
Because he had a bad temper and was prone to emotional blow-ups, CORDERO wasn't too popular with the press but in 1982 his harshest critics couldn't deny he was the nation's #1 rider; that year he would win more races and purses than any other jockey and was awarded his first Eclipse award and through the years that followed, his dedication and talent would yield even greater rewards!
