THOROUGHBRED GREATS - Home Movie Films of RETIRED LEGENDARY HORSES (SECRETARIAT, SEATTLE SLEW, etc.) - RARE!!

Numerous home movie film reels were put together so you will see one reel after another in succession in this dvd or vhs tape (your choice) - most people did this (splicing) to consolidate all their mini films into one large reel of film. The picture quality is exceptionally good throughout considering its age but there are a few areas that appear a little grainy at times but always viewable.
This compilation is mostly of family vacations; about half is dedicated to Thoroughbred Greats and the other half is of family movies of which a lot is horse related. Besides going to the Kentucky Derby a few times, it has stops at several Kentucky horse farms in addition to a few in Maryland and Florida. It seems that this family took vacations that always revolved around horse racing - going to high profile races and also visiting tons of farms in the process to visit horses that they probably watched when they were racing and then followed as they retired at their respective new homes in their stallion careers.
There are 12 pages of notes that came with the film reels (which would be included with your order) that lay out exactly what should be included on this compilation but not everything that is listed in the notes is actually shown on the dvd or tape when it was converted. For instance it lists 7 races but there are not 7 races as specified. The races they do show just include walk by's, the start, the finish. One of the races is the 1981 Ohio Derby held at Thistledown Race Track won by PASS THE TAB. The rest are from the Kentucky Derby from the late 1970's to the mid 1980's.

A lot of the scenes are just the horse relaxing, rolling around in the dirt, being led in and out of the barn, being fed, etc. Maybe someone out there can put a name to some of the greats. You can't make out the names on their harness (but you can see there is a name tag) or the horse barns so it will take someone that is more knowledgeable (or has better eyesight). I can't vouch that all the horses listed are in the video since I don't know how to prove which one is which, but pictures #2 & #4 are SECRETARIAT; he's also in at least three more segments and picture #3 is SEATTLE SLEW getting a bath.
