RUN FOR THE ROSES: SENIOR DERBYS
For some the wait for glory is literally a lifetime. This documentary tells the story of those who finally won the golden trophy in their golden years: the title of oldest owner to win a Derby belongs to Frances A. Genter of Minnesota whose UNBRIDLED won the 1990 Derby, 1992 brought PAT DAY his first Derby win with 83-year old Cal Partee's LIL E. TEE, and the next year in 1993 SEA HERO would bring the roses home for owner, philanthropist, PAUL MELLON, and his Rokeby Stables. Fate, destiny, and timing - in a period of just eight years from 1986-1993 in five Derbys, America's greatest racing prize was won by some of the sports greatest racing families and personalities.
The Senior Derby's - the best things really must be worth waiting for and the wait makes the roses smell that much sweeter!
