WOMEN IN AMERICAN HORSE RACING
Produced in Massachusetts, with a special nod being given to Suffolk Downs for its early welcome to women in racing, this documentary draws on interviews with working women and features material from racetracks around the country; it also highlights prominent women of the past including the legendary trainer, Mary Hirsch, and Hall of Fame now-retired jockey, JULIE KRONE.
The story of women in racing is more and more the story of racing itself. Women have arrived in American horse racing, from coast to coast, bringing a new energy and fresh perspective to the industry. They've won their spurs with talent and hard work. And something more - heart, compassion, a real love for the game and a real love for the horse.
It hasn't always been an easy trip, but women have come a long way, from obscurity to the winner's circle, from the back barns to the Hall of Fame. The predictions are that this feature will be an important resource on the history of women in sport for years to come.
