THOROUGHBRED CLASSICS: THE BREEDERS' CUP CLASSIC
This documentary takes a look back at the first and perhaps the most dramatic Breeders' Cup Classic ever ran and also some great rivalries that followed. See the controversial win of the gutsy, WILD AGAIN over GATE DANCER and SLEW O' GOLD in the first Classic running in 1984. Hollywood Park would again be the battleground for the meeting between the two Kentucky Derby winners, FERDINAND and ALYSHEBA in 1987 and then the following year staged a show-down between SEEKING THE GOLD and ALYSHEBA.
But in 1989, two notable adversaries, EASY GOER and SUNDAY SILENCE, would meet for a final time at Gulfstream for the fifth Breeders' Cup Classic - with championship honors on the line here, a win would guarantee year end Horse of the Year. Their rivalry provided the sport with a fitting and dramatic climax to the decade of the 1980's and their names will forever be linked together in history.
Also included is a special tribute to JERRY BAILEY and his four Breeders' Cup Classic Winners: BLACK TIE AFFAIR 1991, ARCANGUES 1993, CONCERN 1994, and CIGAR in 1996.
