LOST IN THE FOG (The Documentary)
Most of the storytelling is left to Aleo, who could not be more effective if he were scripted, and his sidekick, trainer Greg Gilchrist. The horse's winning streak eventually ends, tragically, but the film is a fitting legacy to the colt's brief and powerful impact on the horse racing world - particularly in the Bay Area, which doesn't exactly boast a rich tradition in the sport.
LOST IN THE FOG documents the titular stallion's quick rise and subsequent fall from the eyes and minds of the racing world. Combining both racing footage and interviews chronicling over two years of the horse's run to victory after victory, we are introduced to the passionate yet sometimes painful journeys of those who buy, trade, train and follow a prized horse from regal to retirement. The viewer is taken into the paddock and is introduced to the many personalities that make up the horseracing subculture, and is reminded that winning and losing are really triumph and tragedy.
